The Last Wolf

The Wolf Moon lit up Inveroy on the 3rd of January. Local legend has it that the last wolf of Lochaber was killed on the Croft here.

There was no darkness that night. Nowhere to hide…..

Before dawn, the Wolf Moon had circumnavigated the Croft and was sinking in the west.

The domestic dogs have no idea how hard life could actually be.

And indeed, the simple request of “can you take Jane for a walk?” became a test of the strongest will……

2 mins of pondering a walk, followed by the Long Carry.

Paths and roads turned icy and treacherous and anyone walking ANYWHERE became an issue.

Paths that looked innocuous turned out to be a hands and knees job at times!!

But then the rain came and we had to admit it was good to let the cold go, in favour of the rain. Not often we think that.

There have been protests since my daughter told my dog he wasn’t allowed to leave home with a croc. He figured he’d rather stay home.

But it was sad to let the twinkles go.

So I’ve kept mine, for a while.

Just to help brighten a sad sad time.

I can’t put into words how much I’ll miss this very quiet, dignified man.
